Wind Powered Wine
Since 2017, we’ve been harnessing one of the Salinas Valley’s most abundant renewable resources: wind. Our 400-foot-tall turbine doesn’t just power our entire winery operation and bottling process—it produces enough clean energy to power over 200 homes in our community.
Through diligence, innovative practices, and technology, we’re committed to protecting the planet. You can taste this commitment in every fine bottle of wine we produce.

Our Commitment to Sustainability
Over the years, a growing number of state, national, and international bodies have recognized our dedication to environmental stewardship and sustainable agricultural practices.
Our estate vineyards have been certified sustainable by the CSWA (California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance) since 2014 and our winery since 2018. Less than 10% of wineries hold both vineyard and winery certifications from CSWA.
As of 2024, we achieved Bee Friendly Farming Certification for our estate White Flower Vineyard, a prestigious designation awarded by
Pollinator Partnership that recognizes our efforts to promote bee health and biodiversity in our estate vineyards.
Additional earth-friendly practices:
Vineyards:
100% drip irrigation with technology that senses soil moisture so we use only the amount of water that is necessary
Planting of a variety of cover crops between vineyard rows to improve soil health naturally, prevent erosion, control vine vigor, and discourage weeds
Integrated pest management to allow beneficial insects to control pests
Low impact, herbal-based soil preparations to promote vitality through increased microbiologic activity and diversity
The use of over 250 owl boxes to allow barn owls to take residence and control rodents that prey on grapevines, such as gophers and field mice, helping to keep the land in balance
Winery:
Skylights and motion sensors to reduce electricity usage
Jacketed and insulated stainless steel tanks to reduce heating and cooling energy needs
Composting of 100% of grape pomace, stems and seeds, which is then spread back into the vineyards
Recycling of 100% of winery water through our wastewater irrigation ponds, which is then reused in our vineyards
Use of lightweight glass bottles to reduce carbon emissions during shipping
